When I started this painting, I set out to paint one of my first vivid memories. Being awoken by a powerful thunderstorm when I was only four years old. As the painting evolved, I felt that a moon would be more fitting then a storm. And interestingly, a few days after finishing this piece, I found myself in the exact same scenario. Wide awake, late at night, wishing on the lunar eclipse full moon. It seems that by painting the past, I ended up painting the future. Or rather, maybe the truth is, we really don’t change much over time.
